The Role of Embedded AI/ML Cores in Hardware-Based Accelerators

Scott Schweitzer, Senior Product Manager

In this presentation, Senior Product Manager Scott Schweitzer examines CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and ASICs and how each computational platform relates to specialized artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) processing cores developed in recent years. Each of these computational platforms specializes in specific problem domains, where their computational resources offer the best ratio of results-to-power consumption. This talk will discuss these computational platforms with a focus on the most recent two platforms, ASICs and FPGAs with enhanced AI/ML cores, and will dive into why these platforms, for specific problem domains, are so much better than earlier competing platforms.

How to Overcome the Pain Points of AI/ML Hardware

Tom Spencer, Senior Manager, Product Marketing

AI/ML hardware faces three common pain points: memory bandwidth, computational throughput and on-chip data movement. In this talk, Senior Product Marketing Manager Tom Spencer reveals next-generation FPGA technology that offers a balance of speed, power and cost to alleviate these pain points. Attend this talk to find out how FPGAs and embedded FPGA (eFPGA) IP are ideal platforms for AI/ML inferencing solutions that provide the flexibility of a GPU while performing at speeds similar to an ASIC.

When / Where

SC21 is a hybrid physical/virtual event. The conference takes place November 14-19 (Saint Louis, MO and online). Achronix will host its virtual booth during open exhibit hours November 15-18. To find out more and to register, visit sc21.supercomputing.org.
